Q&A: I want to serve in the Army and continue my culinary education?

Question by Shawn G: I want to serve in the Army and continue my culinary education?
I have a kid from my hometown who is rated the number one cook in the military. He has made it far, cooking for kings of other ocuntries and our President.
My loyalties are country #1 and my culinary career #2. I saw on the site that the Army competes every year in the Culinary Olympics and The Culinary World Cup and have a culinary team.
Some people in this forum have told me that if you are a cook in the Army it won’t carry anymore weight than working at McDonalds and it is dead end. No future.
can someone with some actual first hand knowledge share in detail what they know about MOS Food Service Specialist. I was also consdiering Hospital Food Service Specialist. They say you get more into nutrition and diet more so than just Food Service Spec. I see they are in heavy deman for these slots in the Army (thus I’m sure the large bonus they offer-which plays no role in my choice-although it is a perk). Any advice?

It is what you make of it. If you approach it as a “job” then it’s not going to do much.
But-
If you approach it as a career (or career enhancement tool), then you can go far!!

You will be encouraged to pursue your education, and grow and learn to be the subject matter expert in your field.

Go for it!!

The Army Culinary team is very prestigious, and they compete all over the country and overseas in major culinary competitions. You can learn the Hospital Food Service stuff as a regular cook also, so that’s up to you.

How to open a non-money slot machine?

Question by gods_evil_twin@ymail.com: How to open a non-money slot machine?
My kids bought me a slot machine as a present. It is just a replica and does not pay out any money just these weird coins that came with it. I have had this machine for 2 years and just recently moved. During the move the key was misplaced. I have a duplicate key inside the machine because there is away to open it with out the key. There is a panel on the back big enough to slide your hand through all the way to the lock (the key is under the coin slide so I can’t get to it.) Any ideas on what needs to be done to open it. So far I found a bar that slides up and down, but nothing else that needs to be maneuvered. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is my grand children’s favorite toy but the switch is on the inside out of my reach as welll.

Thank you and best regards.

Take it to a locksmith and have them pick it open.

Are any Professional Gamblers at Casino Games ?

Question by Mrs. BonBon: Are any Professional Gamblers at Casino Games ?
I think Poker is the most popular gambling game in terms of earning a living – the only other two I know of that people can do professionally or full time as a career is Sports Betting and Blackjack

Do you know of anyone who can be a pro gambler at other casino games or slots, and if so which games?

I dont think its possible but I’m curious if anyone knows of anybody doing it that has been successful?

Should I go to the casino and play some slot machines tonight?

Question by : Should I go to the casino and play some slot machines tonight?
Just got paid and I am so far behind on my bills at this point it doesn’t even matter anymore. The only thing I haven’t tried is gambling lol. Should I risk $ 50 on the slots tonight? I kinda feel lucky!! =)

Answer by Lovin’ Life
If you are at that much of a loss i think you should save all your money you possibly can. BUT if you think its hopeless and saving $ 50 will do nothing, i say go for it! TIP: If you loose a lot and win nothing then just use your $ 50 BUT NO MORE THAN THAT! ONLY BRING FIFTY DOLLARS WITH YOU IN YOUR POCKET, NOTHING ELSE!! if you win, lets say 10 dollars, play with only half of that! Use only half of your earnings and nothing else. When you have gained enough and think you can pay your bill, GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE!! ~Love life ;)

What is a decent, reasonably priced graphics card for a PCIe slot in my pc?

Question by Jelloise: What is a decent, reasonably priced graphics card for a PCIe slot in my pc?
Mine has an Intel graphics media accelerator 950 and the 2GBs of ram it will hold.
I’m not trying to build an extreme gaming machine, I just want better overall and dvd/flash game/cd performance.
I should have said it’s a x16.

I would say minimum 8400gs. I had it and it ran any free games you throw at it. If, on the other hand, you buy pc games you should get something better but 8400gs should be fine on older games. If its over $ 20 don’t get it as you can get better ones.

Sure, I’ve come across them before. Simple, hand held electronic games that you can play slots, blackjack, poker, etc. on. They are pretty cheap too.

Memory Upgrading for Sony rs320?

slots bonuses

Question by Jon P: Memory Upgrading for Sony rs320?
The current system has 4 sticks of 256mb DDR pc2700 @ 333Mhz. I’m wondering what my options are, my slots will not take 1 gb sticks, so I can max out with 4 x 512. Can I use pc3200 @ 400 Mhz?

I think I can and that it is backwards compatible, but then I see all these other things, like single or double sided, high and low density, voltage of 2.5 and 2.6. CL ratings 2 to 6, all of which complicates the solution.

I’m looking at this faster ram, not cause of the speed, as I understand my sysyem, unless overclocked, will restrict it back to 333Mhz. But the reason I’m looking at this is cause of a deal I saw on Newegg. Thoughts on Crucial memory? Thanks for your time and effort/responses in advance, have a great day.

Jon

P.S. Bonus question, lol. I know that I have to use DDR memory for memory upgrading, but can I use higher DDR2 or 3 on Video card memory and still be compatible? Thanks again, later.

Sign now or wait till oct. 1 st.?

Question by flemishrabit: Sign now or wait till oct. 1 st.?
Im supposed to go down to Meps on wed. to pick my MOS (already did everything else asvab and physical)and sign up but i feel like i will get the short end of the stick, not get a bonus or a small bonus and perhaps not get the slot i want since its end of the year, i feel like it might be smarter to wait 2 weeks and then sign up on Oct. 1 since there would be a greater chance of getting what i want with reset of year , is my thinking rational, should i just wait or will it not make a difference, Any feedback much appreciated.

Answer by theshinynickel
You should wait …..its a good idea because you’ll most likely get the job you want.
