I like online gambling. And poker can even be profitable sometimes, however sometimes I will waste way more money than I would like on online slots. Its such a stupid guilty pleasure, and after losing several hundred dollars I always think of the things i could have bought with the money.
I know there is some software out there that can completely prevent gambling all together (which is probably fine in some cases) but I’d like software that would enable me to limit my contributions (e.g. dollars a week). Does this software exist?
I know individual sites allow this but i always weasel my way around it.

Not much you can do here, you should ask your bank, probably. You can exclude yourself from sites though, just ask each and every site to exclude you from playing. There isn’t really software for that, I do know that if you have a mac your possibilities to play poker reduce drastically, so maybe that’s an option?
It’s a good thing you are seeing that it’s a waste of money though and that you can’t resist playing. It doesn’t sound that bad, but you do have some sort of addiction. Maybe you should try not to play at all, see how that goes.

Mate, as a gambler my self, I completely understand your pain. What you need is to restrict yourself and have more control over the gambling. This is the first and foremost thing you need. Without self restriction, nothing can help you.
Now coming to software, you should play on sites which offer this service. This is called deposit limits and can be found under responsible gambling tab of any gambling website. If you play only on these sites and restrict your daily or weekly or monthly deposit to a figure that you want to, you will be okay.

Another way is to ask your bank to restrict all your cards for gambling transactions except one. And on this card keep a minimum balance of $50, so even if you want you can’t deposit more than $50 or whatever is your limit.

No – poker is not profitable for you either. If it were, you would be playing poker.
Tell the truth – you win sometimes playing poker, but eventually you give it all back anyway!
You like online gambling. That’s the truth of the matter. If you enjoy it so much that it’s worth $50 per week just for the entertainment value, then limit yourself to $50. You should be able to do this with any legitimate online casino. In the cashier section there should be a place for you to request a limit increase. If you can request an increase, then you can also request a DECREASE.
More important – if YOU cannot limit yourself on your own to $50, then you probably have a problem, but you just don’t want to admit it yet!
Here’s what’s going to happen – You’ll get your limit reduced to $50 per week, then you’re going to get so upset on a bad streak you run into that you’ll have the limit reversed! If you find some sort of software, you’ll uninstall the software!
