Avoiding Overdraft Fee. Need to make CC payment; Money is in bank but pending?

Question by CeeStyle: Avoiding Overdraft Fee. Need to make CC payment; Money is in bank but pending?
Normally I have enough money in my bank account to cover upcoming bills which I pay online and therefore gets deducted from my account but I was money was short.

I have an upcoming Capital One payment of .00 due on the 29th.
As of the 26th, I had 43.87 in the bank. On saturday, I rushed to my bank (BankAtlantic) and deposited .00 (cash) and a .00 check. They used to be open late on saturday but changed their hours so when I arrived, They were closed. I deposited the money into ATM’s “Deposit” slot. (night deposit bulit into the atm). They were open today (sunday. It’s a 7-day bank) but for some reason, they did not count the night deposit money or did not credit the account.
I called Capital One to see exactly when they withdraw funds but no one could give me an answer. Payments made online through capital one after sunday are credited the next day but the rep. on the phone told me the change the date from the 28th to the 29th (which is monday.) Monday my bank will credit my account from the night deposit cash but I want to beat the clock and make sure that my “available” balance is .87 (and not 43.87) by the time capital one takes out the money and avoid an overdraft fee. Thanks

That ATM deposit will credit with Monday nights business. Most banks won’t pull ATM deposits until Monday(even if it’s a 7 day bank, I worked at one) The auto draft from Capital One should pay bc even though yo0ur available may not show until the count your deposit that night, deposits go in first, so the money will be available for the payment. FYI: check cut off times for your ATM. Our cutoff was 3PM, so if you went on Monday at 4 to put it in for that payment, it wouldn’t be put on your account until Tuesday. This is for future reference, this payment should be fine! Even if your “available” is negative, that won’t charge an OD fee, you just may not be able to make any debit purchases during the day.
