buying a Athlon 64 x2 6000+ CPU . Do I need to upgrade Heatsink if I’m not planning on overclocking the CPU?

Question by nukinfuts76: buying a Athlon 64 x2 6000+ CPU . Do I need to upgrade Heatsink if I’m not planning on overclocking the CPU?
Really don’t want to remove MB. Think I can replace CPU without removing MB . Not sure. Anyway , I also don’t want to void any warranty my CPU might come with. But I am installing two GPU’s and don’t know if that effects CPU heat. All I use my PC for is online gaming,(COD4, COD WAW , Battlefield , ect…) and music production. I have seven case fan slots on my CM690 case. Would it be better to just spend the extra money on case fans? I know this is a multiple part question and would like to thank responders in advance. Thank You.

It’s always a good idea to keep your rig as cool as you can. If you are going to be upgrading to two graphics cards (sli or not) and the cpu, its would be in your best interest to at least add a fan or two. Chances are your PSU will have no problem running two more fans, and the GPU built in fans can pretty much do their jobs.
A new heatsink isn’t necessary since most stock heatsinks can keep up with manufacture oem cpu installations, but if you notice a drastic pull in temp, I would recommend it.
All in all, with some added fans (and a new heatsink if you deem applicable) your not breaking the bank, plus you get the added piece of mind that pretty much erases the idea of the dreaded “what if” scenario that takes a 0 cpu down with it.
