Any suggestions on how to win? What machines to play, quarter, fifty cents, dollar? Is it true to play a machine after someone has been on it for awhile and leaves and hasn't won on it? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is no way to beat a slot machine. There are several million combinations that can play out so counting doesn't work. It is just random luck. I would go with card games they pay out better than anything else. Try blackjack

Set a budget you can afford and stick to it. Only play progressive jackpot machines that are up high. Don't be afraid to ask a few regulars when the jackpots usually go off. eg. in our local casino the keno major jackpot always goes off around the 2 million mark.

If you know how to play video poker properly, play that as there is a degree of skill involved whereas in slots there is none at all. With video poker in the long run you can have an edge. Also play progressives.

Both the sites below have free online games to practice on and are great fun.

The machines are preset by a computer chip to pay out at random times. There is nothing you can do to change that, if you sit down at a machine that`s programmed to hit, you will win or you could sit at a machine for 3 hrs straight and never get a decent hit. I usually start out by playing the three quarter slots, if and only if I get a decent payout, say $75 or $100 then I`ll move to the dollar slots and try my luck. Remember you`re now spending $2 /3 dollars per play, so it can eat your money up fast. If no hits in the first ten tries, I`ll walk away and try another denomination, either the 50 cent ones or back to the quarters machines. Most times I lose my money Or sat there and put my winnings back into the machine. But will say I`ve had several hits of over a $1000, they are far and few between. Good luck to you, hope you hit the jackpot.

Slot machines contain a "random number generator" (RNG) micro-computer that constantly (even while the machine is not being used) spits out numbers. These random numbers correspond to positions on each of the reels in the machine. When you pull the handle or push the "Spin" button you aren't really initiating anything except the spinning of the reels which is merely for show. You are simply telling the machine to display the reel positions that correspond to the last set of random numbers that were generated. It all comes down to the precise moment that you pull that handle or push that "Spin" button (i.e. which set of random numbers you select). Pulling the handle or pushing the button a 100th of a second later would yield a totally different result.

If someone gets a big payout at a machine that you just left, don't feel bad because you "missed" a payout. You would not have gotten that payout if you continued to play because you wouldn't have pulled the slot machine at the exact fraction of a second that the winner did. Again, this is due to the rapid generation of random numbers.

A machine is never "due to hit". The payback percentage and hit frequency are calculated over the long term.

Playing faster will not increase your chances of winning. The RNG will generate thousands of numbers between the spins of even the fastest player. While a faster player may seem to win more, it's simply because they've spinned more for a given amount of time.

Sorry there isn't much way to win on the slot machines except by luck. So kiss a four leaf clover or carry around a rabbits foot is my best advice.
