Question by Shawn G: I want to serve in the Army and continue my culinary education?
I have a kid from my hometown who is rated the number one cook in the military. He has made it far, cooking for kings of other ocuntries and our President.
My loyalties are country #1 and my culinary career #2. I saw on the site that the Army competes every year in the Culinary Olympics and The Culinary World Cup and have a culinary team.
Some people in this forum have told me that if you are a cook in the Army it won’t carry anymore weight than working at McDonalds and it is dead end. No future.
can someone with some actual first hand knowledge share in detail what they know about MOS Food Service Specialist. I was also consdiering Hospital Food Service Specialist. They say you get more into nutrition and diet more so than just Food Service Spec. I see they are in heavy deman for these slots in the Army (thus I’m sure the large bonus they offer-which plays no role in my choice-although it is a perk). Any advice?

It is what you make of it. If you approach it as a “job” then it’s not going to do much.
But-
If you approach it as a career (or career enhancement tool), then you can go far!!

You will be encouraged to pursue your education, and grow and learn to be the subject matter expert in your field.

Go for it!!

The Army Culinary team is very prestigious, and they compete all over the country and overseas in major culinary competitions. You can learn the Hospital Food Service stuff as a regular cook also, so that’s up to you.

Re-balancing (or further unbalancing) the schedule?
Do something about interleague play?
Enhanced revenue sharing?

Or whatever else.

1. more day games

2. 2 new teams- 1 in the AL Central and 1 in the NL West, maybe New Orleans and San Antonio

3. Add another wild card team. Give the teams in each league with the best record a bye week.

Hello, I know that game-developing is a time consuming thing, but I decided that I want to try it out and after playing a little with game-maker and other similar tools, I decided that I want to make some web-based games like backgammon, slot machines, dice game .. (gambling games) . I want them to be played directly on a website with a chatting room incorporated, so I was wondering what should i begin studying in order to accomplish this. Don’t go like : aaa you should start with making more single player games, I want to know directly what to start with in order to make web-based games. Ty in advance

well you first need to decide what language you want to write the game in.. java, flash, windows… once you have that figured out then you need to get the software for writing them.. google it.. good luck

One more thing with out having any background in software writing it will be very hard to write a game.. even some html knowledge may help.. I would recommend taking a class on C#

I thought it would make an unusual piggy bank. What’s the best place to buy old slot machine in Vegas? I’m a California resident, so I think to legally have one it has to be older that 25 years. The best selection of used slot machines is Gamblers General Store at 800 S. Main St. (if you know Vegas, this is just north of Charleston and south of downtown). Phone is (702) 382-9903. They have anything you could want about gaming — books, chips etc.
You should check the law in your state — before I moved here, I lived in a state that only allowed antique slots and they had to be registered with a state agency. The folks at Gamblers can give you the info on state laws.
